10 Year Nero on the Station

Like Nero, the greatest newspaper appearance ever to appear daily in a newspaper, established himself in the forsaken tram station of Hoeilaart. The commune at a good idea for once and ordered a statue of Nero.

That year He was the theme of the annual light parade of the village festivities. For wich one of the very best pub football teams asked me to make the head of Nero for the light parade at the end of the week.

With some old newspapers and paint leftovers we quickly recreated his head. It was a wet year and we tried to get as many layers of transparent varnish on our Nero so he could resist a stormy parade.

That night, after the parade, some enthusiastic Nero fans climbed on the roof of the old station and installed our Nero on his residence. And ever since at the dawn of the festivities the same fans get him back on the roof. Damn good varnish if you ask me, keeping him nice and shiny the last 10 years.
